Turkish Trade Registry Gazette: What It Is and Which Changes Are Published

The trade registry gazette is the official notice gazette in which information on companies and commercial enterprises registered in the trade registry is announced throughout Turkey. Its name in the law is the Turkish Trade Registry Gazette (Türkiye Ticaret Sicili Gazetesi, TTSG for short), and it is published by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB). A company's formation, trade name, address, capital, managers and authorized signatories are made public through notices published in this gazette. As a rule, a change registered before its notice is published does not have full effect against third parties.

In this article, we focus on the gazette itself: who publishes it, which changes are announced, which ones are published three times, how 2026 notice fees are calculated and how to find a notice step by step. At foreign-owned companies, this gazette is one of the main documents showing the company's current status to the parent company and to banks.

Summary

Key Takeaways

  • Under Article 35 of Turkish Commercial Code No. 6102, the trade registry gazette is the only gazette in which registry records are announced throughout Turkey, and it is published by TOBB.
  • According to TOBB, the first issue of the gazette was published on 21.02.1957, and since then 22.2 million notices have appeared in more than 16 thousand issues.
  • Under the 2026 tariff, company notices cost 5.53 TL per word and company formation notices 2.48 TL per word.
  • In capital reductions, mergers, demergers and liquidations, the call to creditors is announced not once but through three separate notices.
  • For free notice searches, you need to sign in with a member account or e-Government (e-Devlet) at ticaretsicil.gov.tr.

What is the trade registry gazette, and who publishes it?

The trade registry gazette is the official publication in which facts registered at trade registry offices are announced. Article 35 of the Turkish Commercial Code states that registered matters are to be announced unless the law provides otherwise, and that the announcement is made through this gazette. The task of publishing the gazette was given to TOBB by subparagraph (m) of Article 56 of Law No. 5174.

The gazette has a long publication history. According to TOBB's statement, the first issue appeared on 21.02.1957; the more than 16 thousand issues published since then contain 6.8 million pages and 22.2 million notices. Since all issues have been digitized, you can access notices published since 1957 from the same system.

The Ministry of Trade's role comes into play in setting notice fees. Under the Turkish Trade Registry Gazette Regulation, the sales price and notice fees are set by a tariff that enters into force on the proposal of the gazette committee and with the Ministry's approval. The registration decision is made not by the gazette but by the trade registry office to which the company is attached.

Are the Turkish Trade Registry Gazette and the Official Gazette the same thing?

No, they are different publications. The Official Gazette publishes regulatory texts such as laws, Presidential Decrees and regulations. The Turkish Trade Registry Gazette, on the other hand, announces the registry records of individual companies: the formation of a limited liability company, the new board of directors of a joint stock company or the closure of a branch appear here.

This distinction also comes up in practice. When a bank asks about your company's authorized signatory, what it expects is not the Official Gazette but the TTSG issue in which the power of representation was announced. Two separate systems are also used for searching.

When does a notice have legal effect?

A registration becomes effective against third parties with the notice. Under Article 36 of the Turkish Commercial Code, a registry record takes effect from the business day following the day the notice appears in the gazette. If the notice is split across more than one issue, the starting point is the business day following the day the last part is published; periods running from the notice date are also based on this day.

Two paragraphs of the same article clearly show why the notice matters. A third party's claim that it did not know of a record that has taken effect is not heard. Conversely, a matter that was required to be registered or announced but was not can be asserted against the other party only if it is proven that they knew or should have known of it.

Article 37 of the Code goes one step further. If the registration record and the announced text do not match, a third party who is not proven to have known the true situation is protected in relying on the information in the notice. For this reason, a typo in the notice carries a risk that may work against the company.

The notice is also decisive for public institutions. Article 373 of the Turkish Commercial Code provides that public institutions and organizations rely on registry records regarding the company's representatives and may not request documents other than the registry office's documents and the TTSG notice.

Which changes are announced through a TTSG notice?

The rule is simple: every registered fact is announced unless the law or the Trade Registry Regulation provides otherwise. As a result, almost all important decisions in a company's life leave a trace as a TTSG notice. In practice, dividing notices into three groups makes your work easier.

Notices published once

Ordinary transactions that change the company's registry record are announced once. The types we encounter most often are:

  • Formation of joint stock and limited liability companies and registration of the articles of association
  • Amendments to the articles of association, such as trade name, head office address, scope of activity or capital increase
  • Board members, managers and persons authorized to represent the company, and their forms of representation
  • Appointment of the independent auditor
  • Opening and closing of branches
  • Merger, demerger and change of type resolutions

For joint stock companies, the gazette is also a means of calling meetings. Under Article 414 of the Turkish Commercial Code, the general assembly is called by a notice published on the company's website and in the TTSG; the call is made at least two weeks before the meeting, excluding the notice and meeting days.

Call to creditors: notices published three times

Since some transactions directly affect the company's creditors, the law does not consider a single notice sufficient. In a reduction of share capital, the board of directors announces the resolution three times at seven-day intervals; creditors may demand payment or security for their receivables within two months from the third notice (TTK 474).

In mergers and demergers too, creditors are called through three notices in the gazette at seven-day intervals (TTK 157 and 174). For a company in liquidation, Article 541 of the Code requires registered letters to be sent to known creditors and three notices at one-week intervals for other creditors.

These notices determine the timeline. The date of the third notice shows when the liquidation or capital reduction can be completed; at companies that do not plan this date from the outset, the process may drag on for weeks.

Information that is not announced

Not every registration is reflected in the gazette. Under Article 41 of the Trade Registry Regulation, the identification numbers of registered individuals are not announced. Article 78 of the Regulation also provides that certain registrations relating to a conditional capital increase that has taken place are not announced.

How does a notice get from registration to the gazette?

The company does not apply to the gazette directly. The notice text is prepared after registration by the trade registry office where the company's head office is located and sent to the gazette. When you prepare the application via MERSİS, the text approved by the registry office is the very text that will appear in the gazette.

According to TOBB's description of the notice publication process, notices must be published within ten days of reaching the gazette directorate. Since 01.07.2020, notices created in MERSİS and transmitted electronically by the trade registry office have been published within two hours. A published notice can be accessed on the website at the same time, saved as a PDF, and a certified copy can be requested.

A separate deadline applies to the registration application. We explained from which date this period starts and in what order institutions are notified when an address moves in our guide on company address change . What you need to know here is that a notice transmitted electronically is usually published on the same day as the registration.

Let's plan your registry notices together

You can request a preliminary review with our expert team to plan the notice text, the notice fee and the call-to-creditors timeline for your formation and amendment applications.

How is the trade registry gazette notice fee calculated in 2026?

The notice fee is calculated by multiplying the number of words in the notice text by the unit price set for the notice type. The tariff that entered into force on 01.01.2026 is approved by the Ministry of Trade and published in the TTSG. Changes to the tariff enter into force 10 days after publication in the gazette.

Notice group2026 unit fee
Company notices (all company notices other than formation)5.53 TL per word
Company formation notices2.48 TL per word
Cooperative notices2.85 TL per word
Cooperative formation notices1.78 TL per word
Formation (commencement of trade) notices for commercial enterprises of individuals708.00 TL
Termination (closure) notices of commercial enterprises and ex officio registration notices of the registry officeFree of charge

According to TOBB, a 10% discount applies to the notice fees of businesses within the jurisdiction of trade registry offices in priority development regions. If a clerical error made by the registry office during registration has been announced, the correction notice is published in the gazette free of charge under Article 13 of the Trade Registry Regulation.

Let's make the calculation concrete with an example (the figures are only meant to show the calculation method). For a 250-word notice on a change in the board of directors, you pay 250 × 5.53 = 1,382.50 TL. The same company's 900-word formation notice costs 900 × 2.48 = 2,232 TL. The tariff page does not give information on VAT; we recommend checking the exact amount in the payment information generated on the application screen.

The main driver of the fee is the length of the text. When the articles of association are amended, the new text of the amended article is generally also included in the notice; long and repetitive wording both increases the fee and makes the notice harder to read.

How do you search the trade registry gazette in 5 steps?

You search the trade registry gazette in the “Notice Viewing” (İlan Görüntüleme) section of TOBB's ticaretsicil.gov.tr website. For a free search, you need to register as a member or sign in with e-Government. The sequence below gets you to the notice you are looking for by the shortest route.

  • Step 1, sign in: Go to the website and sign in with your user account or e-Government from the “Sign In” (Giriş) area at the top right. If you do not have an account, you can create a membership as an individual, company, bank or official institution.
  • Step 2, notice viewing: Select “Notice Viewing” from the “Notice and Trade Name Search” menu. If you only want to know whether a trade name is registered, “Trade Name Search” in the same menu is faster.
  • Step 3, search criteria: Search by the company's trade name. Since records are kept together with the trade registry office and the registry number, you can use this information to tell apart companies with similar names.
  • Step 4, results list: In the list, you see the type, publication date, gazette issue number and page of each notice. Find the notice for the transaction you are looking for in date order and open it.
  • Step 5, saving or a certified copy: Save the notice as a PDF or, if you will use it in an official transaction, order a certified copy.

What should you look out for when reading the search results?

TOBB specifically reminds users to rely on the published notice text, not on the notice type label in the results list. A notice may cover several transactions together; for example, a general assembly notice may include both a capital increase and a change in management. We therefore recommend reading the text to the end.

The second check is the date and issue number. Banks, tender committees and parent companies abroad generally note the date and number of the notice separately. If more than one notice was published on the same day, the page number helps you identify the right one.

How much does a certified copy cost, and how do you get one?

Under the TOBB Board of Directors' decision, in 2026 an e-signed certified copy costs 75 TL and a wet-signed certified copy 225 TL. If you want the wet-signed copy sent by courier, a service fee of 103.6 TL is added; this fee is not charged for hand delivery from the gazette directorate. E-signed copies are not sent by e-mail; they are downloaded from the “My Requests” (Taleplerim) section of your account.

In which transactions will you need a TTSG notice?

A TTSG notice is one of the most common documents evidencing a company's current status. In our clients' files, we see it requested most often in the following situations:

  • Verifying authorized persons when opening a bank account and updating the signature circular
  • Showing the company's shareholding and representation structure in public tenders
  • Documenting a capital increase or a change in management to the parent company or investor abroad
  • Proving changes of trade name and address in tax office and Social Security Institution (SGK) procedures
  • Checking the counterparty's authorized signatory before signing a contract with a supplier or customer

For example, consider a finance manager running the Turkish subsidiary on behalf of a parent company in Germany (a fictional scenario). When the new general manager's signing authority is registered, the parent company's auditor asks for the TTSG notice showing this authority and its certified copy. If necessary, translation and certification procedures are also planned separately so that the notice can be used abroad.

The information in the gazette and the MERSİS record complement each other. To see the company's current core record, you use the query screens described in our article what is MERSİS ; to see when and with what text a change was announced, you use the TTSG archive.

Common mistakes in notices

The problems we encounter most often in practice stem not from the gazette itself but from the preparation of the text that becomes the notice. We recommend checking the following points before applying:

  • The trade name being written differently in the notice than in the articles of association (abbreviations, Turkish characters or the spelling of “Ltd. Şti.”)
  • The name of a foreign shareholder or manager not matching the spelling in their passport
  • Not putting the three notices in a capital reduction or liquidation on the calendar, and miscalculating the periods
  • Not reading the text after the notice is published, so that the error is noticed months later during a bank transaction
  • The notice fee rising because of unnecessarily long resolution texts

When an error in a notice is noticed, the way to correct it depends on who caused the error. For a clerical error by the registry office, the correction notice is free of charge; correcting an error in the application, however, often requires a new resolution and a new notice.

Include trade registry gazette monitoring in your formation plan

The trade registry gazette is the company's official memory: from formation to closure, every important decision is recorded here with a date and issue number. Getting the notice text right at the application stage takes less time than dealing with a correction notice later. You can find our other guides on setting up a company and registry procedures in Turkey in Company Formation in Turkey category.

We handle the preparation of the notice text, the checking of the notice fee and the review of the published notice in formation and amendment applications as part of our company formation service. You can access the gazette's official page, the notice archive and the current tariff on the Turkish Trade Registry Gazette website; for the full text of the statutory provisions on notices, see Turkish Commercial Code No. 6102.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can a company place a notice in the trade registry gazette itself?

Not for registry notices. The notice text is transmitted to the gazette by the trade registry office that makes the registration; the company completes the application and the notice fee through the registry office. The content of the notice is therefore tied to the registration text approved by the registry office.

How many days after registration is the notice published?

According to TOBB, notices created in MERSİS and transmitted electronically are published within two hours. The legal upper limit for publishing a notice that has reached the gazette directorate is ten days.

Can I access an old company's notices in the TTSG?

Yes. Since all issues of the gazette published since 1957 have been digitized, old notices can also be searched in the Notice Viewing section. You use the same route to review the past records of a closed company.

Are shareholders' identification numbers visible in the notice?

No. Under the Trade Registry Regulation, the identification numbers of registered individuals are not announced. Information such as first name, surname and position may, however, appear in the notice text.

How is a typo in a notice corrected?

If the error is a clerical error made by the registry office during registration, the office corrects the record and the correction notice is published free of charge. If the error stems from the resolution text in the application, a new resolution, a new registration and a new notice are generally required.

Can a foreign shareholder view the TTSG notice from outside Turkey?

Yes; when signed in as a member on the website, notices can be searched online and saved as PDFs. If the notice will be used in an official transaction, an e-signed or wet-signed certified copy can be requested; the translation and certification procedures the institution abroad may additionally require should be checked in advance.
